Starting an Antenna Design and Testing Course

Brainstorming with David Sourdis (HK1A) while on my drive to see my parents in Maryland produced the following idea: Why not offer a short course on antenna modeling with 4Nec2 free antenna modeling software (PC only) over a few weeks via zoom and then meet at a certain location to actually build these antennas and test them with lab grade equipment to see how well we modeled the antenna with the software and how well the antennas performed. If you are interested in this activity, please fill out the survey below and leave your name and email so that we can contact you.

If you want a preview of the software, David did a BARC meeting presentation on the software last year and you can see the video here:

Here is a short survey to gauge the interest in having a class like this. Please answer the first question and for those that want to participate, leave your name and email address and we will get back to you. The class would be on Zoom in the evening on a week day and the antenna testing would be on one week end at the end of the class. This would not start until after Field Day. Doing it on Zoom will allow us to see directly how the instructor uses the program. We would then build these antennas on our own and then get together to go out into the field one week end to test them. This would allow us to improve our antennas and test new designs. Hopefully we would all gain significant insight into how antenna design can make a difference in performance. All this will take a few months to accomplish but should be a lot of fun! Here is the survey:
